Education:
Dr. Peatross graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University in Provo Utah in 1988. He then went on to earn a Ph. D. in Physics in 1993 from the University of Rochester. He followed that with a year of postdoctoral training in Moscow Russia at the General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Science, and then a year at Washington State University. In 1996, Dr. Peatross joined the faculty of Brigham Young University as an Assistant Professor. In 2003 he was named the Outstanding Teacher in the College of Physics and Mathematical Sciences and was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2006, he was given the prestigious campus-wide Karl G. Maser Excellence in Teaching Award. Also in 2006, Dr. Peatross went on a Sabbatical leave to the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany. In 2008, Dr. Peatross was promoted to Full Professor at Brigham Young University.
Grants and Publications:
Dr. Peatross is the recipient of numerous physics research grants from the National Science Foundation, totaling three quarter million dollars. Dr. Peatross has published nearly four-dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles in the area of intense laser physics. He has presented at numerous international conferences and university colloquia. Dr. Peatross is the coauthor of a textbook entitled Physics of Light and Optics.
Patents:
Dr. Peatross is a co-inventor of the patented technology used by Jumbo Bright Prompters. He is also a co-developer of a patented instrument used by a leading skin care company to optically measure levels of antioxidants in the skin.
